Towards the end of last year, I had one of those moments where doubt crept in, whispering that I hadn’t accomplished enough. As an artist and small business owner, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and overlook just how much work we’ve actually done. So, I decided to do a little exercise: I went through my files to count how many drawings I’d completed in 2024.
The result? Over 30 pieces! And, to my amazement, half of them were commissions!
The Power of Reflection
It’s incredible how quickly we forget our achievements. We’re so focused on the next project, the next deadline, or the next big idea that we rarely stop to celebrate what we’ve already accomplished. This little moment of reflection reminded me of the importance of pausing to acknowledge our wins, whether big or small.
For me, creating over 30 artworks in 2024 was no small feat. From detailed pencil drawings to custom commissions that captured people’s most cherished memories, each piece has its own story. Some took hours of meticulous work, others were joyful experiments with colour and texture. Looking back, I’m proud of how much I’ve poured into my art and my business.
Setting Intentions for the New Year
This year, I’m determined to be more intentional about tracking my progress. Whether it’s keeping a log of completed pieces, photographing works-in-progress, or jotting down little victories, I want to make a habit of celebrating along the way. It’s not just about being productive—it’s about recognising and honouring the creative journey.

Celebrate Your Wins
If you’re feeling like you haven’t accomplished enough, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect. Go back through your photos, emails, or journals. Count the projects you’ve completed, the milestones you’ve reached, or even the small steps you’ve taken toward your goals. You might be surprised at just how much you’ve achieved.
